Pinterest isn’t just for pinning pretty images. It’s a powerful content research and planning tool. It shows you exactly what people are searching for, saving, and engaging with, making it an ideal platform for bloggers and content creators who want more visibility, engagement, and even sales.
If you’ve ever felt stuck trying to build an Instagram content calendar (or any content calendar, really), you’re not alone. The good news? Pinterest can make the process easier and more strategic. In this post, I’ll walk you through how to find content ideas with Pinterest and plan ahead like a pro.
Pinterest trends is going to help you build out your content calendar for the year so that you can see trends like back-to-school really starts in July, Christmas decor starts in October, etc. Here’s how to find it: From your Pinterest Business Account, click top left, right where it says Pinterest, then click Pinterest trends under Analyze Performance. This is where you are going to filter at the top monthly trends, or top yearly trends, then click on your Interest and Keyword. Identify anything that stands out to you and your brand.
Another way to fill in your content calendar is to search keywords in your niche on Pinterest and you can identify what is relevant to get engagement and sales. So, for instance, if you post about home decor. Type in the search bar “home decor” and identify the keywords under that phrase that pop up, like home decor 4th of July, or home decor for spring, etc. Pinterest is a great tool to find content ideas that people are actually interested in. The image below shows what people are looking for and this might help you if you create content about home decor.
You can use tools like Google Sheets, Notion, Trello, or ClickUp to organize your content ideas, just create a simple layout with months across the top and break each one down by seasonal and evergreen trends. Remember, you don’t have to cover every single trend, but this approach gives you a clear view of what people are actually searching for throughout the year.
While it might be tempting to rely solely on tools like ChatGPT for keyword suggestions, keep in mind that Pinterest trends are time-sensitive and constantly shifting. For example, during Coachella season, festival-related content will spike. That’s why planning directly from Pinterest’s trending data is more accurate when building a content calendar that stays relevant.
Okayyy so now that you have content ideas that people are looking for, how do you use them? If you are a blogger, you can use these content ideas to write blogs. If you are a content creator, you can use these content ideas to create reels for Instagram or YouTube.
