Want to create a Pinterest marketing strategy but not sure where to even start? Well, newsflash people are leveraging Pinterest as part of their marketing strategy so that they can drive traffic to their blog and email list. And guess what, even if you don’t have a blog you can drive traffic to your podcast or YouTube channel. Plus if you are a beginner, it’s super easy to learn. But I want to make sure you have some clear expectations. Pinterest is not for you if you are looking for an influx of leads right away, you don’t have the capacity to just take in traffic when it comes, and your website is not probably designed to funnel in traffic. What do you think? If you are ready to learn more, let’s get started.
Write down your 3-4 content pillars and that includes your products or services, your target audience interests, and any subtopics you want to talk about. This is super important so that you can identify keywords. Those keywords will support your Pinterest boards, bio, board descriptions, pin titles, pin descriptions, and graphics. So get out a spreadsheet and start writing them down. You can also grab the social media planner here since there is a page about Pinterest keywords.
Identify your keywords. I love using the Keywords Anywhere plugin for Chrome. You can easily find keywords that are trending on Pinterest and short-tailed keywords that are one-two words long. If you have a new blog you want to select keywords that aren’t super popular so you can rank higher.
Use the keywords to start planning your blog posts. You can search the keyword on Pinterest, then review the other Pin title headlines to see if there are any on brand for you. Plus the keywords will help you identify topics that are relevant to your audience.
PRO TIP: Download your reels or TikToks to repurpose on Pinterest. Just make sure it doesn’t include a watermark.
