Hey mama! With the Internet, there are so many work-from-home ideas for moms. From working a traditional computer job, freelancing, online store owner, or reselling. I believe the biggest benefit is that it provides flexibility for moms who need to manage both work and family. As a new mom, being a freelancer has helped me support my family financially and make me feel independent so that I can still spend money on things that I want to do. In this blog post, I will give you an overview of a variety of work-from-home ideas for moms.
I’ve done a little bit of reselling over the years when I lost weight or was moving from California to Nevada. This has a huge potential to be a full time business as a work from home idea for moms. You can start by selling your babies clothes or even your own first to get a feel for it. My only concern is that you do need space in your home to put the items. Look up reselling content creators on YouTube for advice on best brands to sell or how to paint furniture. You can sell clothes on Poshmark, ebay, Facebook marketplace, or Mercari. I would even research FREE things in your neighborhood and see if you can sell them online if you have a small budget.

PRO TIP: For all of these you can search on Reddit to learn if moms recommend the side hustle. You can also do your research on YouTube or Google to find out what it would be like and if it would fit your lifestyle.
This blog is obviously about online social media management and digital marketing so of course I had to mention this. My recommendation is to understand what you like to do. Then you can buy a course to learn more about it. And then start building a portfolio and getting your LinkedIn setup. You can position yourself as a freelancer and reach out to hiring managers or businesses on LinkedIn. A few specializations I would recommend are:

I don’t have any experience as a bookkeeper but I’ve worked with plenty of businesses who employ bookkeepers and it is a huge need. First do some research on YouTube and then read blogs online to see what other mom bookkeepers are doing to find clients, how they like the work, and why they choose bookkeeping. Then find a course to help you launch this work-from-home business. I also have a friend who helps moms and women become bookkeepers, so make sure to check it out here.
Do you have customer service experience? You are in luck because there are a lot of course creators and online businesses who sell products that need online customer service reps. Think email management, calls, and social media comments. A lot of e-commerce brands need a customer service rep too, so make sure to reach out with your resume. You can even find virtual assistant jobs on Upwork or Indeed and search “Customer Service Rep.” You can easily pick up 2 clients if you have the right experience and excel your interview.
Are you obsessed with organizing online businesses? You can specialize in a variety of services like social media content processes, working with influencers to reply to comments online, or communicating with team members. There are so many skills you can offer as a virtual assistant. I would first identify what type of clients you want to work with and then you can build a portfolio that caters to them. You can find jobs by a quick Google search, Upwork, or sending DM’s on Instagram, LinkedIn, and Indeed. If you are urgently looking for a job, I would recommend this one because basically, all my freelance clients have a virtual assistant on their team.
If you love creating video content and recommending products to your friends, then this is perfect for you. Brands are currently paying content creators for video content to post on their feeds and content for their online ads. UGC is great if you like creating conversion content and can create on-brand visual content. You can easily create a portfolio on Canva with video clips and start pitching to brands you love. Here is a past client that I enjoyed working for and she helps moms become content creators. They have a super helpful Facebook group and if you sign up for their newsletter you will find a lot of opportunities to work with brands.
And if you are a brand looking to hire UGC creators, here’s the link to get in contact with Mom Creators.
You can easily go on YouTube and search print-on-demand businesses. This is great for creative moms. Printify is just one print-on-demand website. But if you create an account, you can pick a product to design and integrate it with Shopify or Etsy. The bulk of your time will be promoting your product on social media like Pinterest or Instagram. Printify takes care of order fulfillment, shipping, and customer service. My only con for this business is that it does take a while to gain traction. So this is something I would start while at a 9-5 so you still have income coming in. Or if you are already a stay-at-home mom, I would be a virtual assistant and do Printify as a passion project so you can still get an income. Again, go on YouTube to find content creators who have tutorials about how to create a store online.
I have one friend who owns her own business as a real estate transaction coordinator. This entails you handling all the paperwork that comes with buying and selling a home. This is perfect if you have real estate experience. You would also love this type of job if you are detail-oriented, are obsessed with organization, and are on top of deadlines. You can easily find a real estate agent to work with and then they will most likely refer you to their colleagues. I would Google courses on how to get started and then you can either do this as a side hustle or full-time. Don’t forget to do your research on YouTube for tutorials and learn how others got started.
To recap, there are a variety of work-from-home ideas for moms. You can choose to pursue any of these work-from-home ideas for moms as either a side hustle or a full-time business. So figure out which one piques your interest the most. This is just one starting point to help you launch your side hustle. Now, invest in learning more about it. You can start by reading blogs or YouTube videos first. And if you have the means, invest in a course to skyrocket your side hustle or business.
There are so many options, all you have to do is make a decision and start. Even if it turns out you don’t like it, you can find a new business idea to launch. Just remember your why which is to balance work and family life.
