Calling all online entrepreneurs who want to create different income sources… do you want to learn how to do affiliate marketing on Pinterest? Well, you are in the right place. In this blog, you will learn how to leverage Pinterest to drive affiliate sales.
Affiliate marketing is when a blogger, influencer, or content creator, promotes a product and shares a link where they earn a commission for every sale they generate.
Pinterest allows you to show videos and images of those products and share your affiliate links. And the biggest benefit is that you can leverage keywords so that when people are searching for products they can find your products.
Whereas if people are just scrolling Instagram or TikTok and they come across a video that mentions a product via an affiliate link, that would be more of an impulse buy versus using Pinterest because they already know what they are looking for.
Creating Pinterest content is very specific because people are searching in the bar for what they are looking for, versus on Instagram, they can just keep scrolling to eventually come across what they are looking for. So here are the four types of content you need to drive affiliate marketing sales.
One example is “How to Create a Minimal Makeup Bag.” In this blog post, you’d talk about your top 5 products that are maybe 2 in 1 so you know a cream blush can also be used as lipstick, then you’d link to that product. You can even create a video and link to your blog showing your makeup bag and you can link to similar makeup bags or products for each skin type. Then when someone clicks on it they can purchase it which will make you a commission.
Create a blog or a video talking about the product and what are the pros and cons. Then you can link to the product. You can even do a comparison between two products and then tell them which one you’d recommend. An example is “Don’t Buy This, Buy This.” You’ve probably seen videos like this on YouTube before where people are doing reviews and comparing to other products. Then link your affiliate links to the pin, and people can easily make a decision which product to purchase to satisfy their needs.
You’re probably clicked on Pinterest pins like “5 Makeup Products You Need if You Have Dry Skin.” You instantly are curious about the products and want to see if you’ve tried any of them. People love a curated list of essentials or must-haves. You can then link to each product directly.
Gift guides work great for the holidays or even throughout the year for specific occasions like birthdays and anniversaries. Examples are “Best Gifts for Moms” or “Top iPad Accessories in 2024”
One note I want to make is that to drive your sales use authentic photos and videos of the products. For instance, if you are linking to your makeup, show a photo of the actual lipstick in your bag so people can see that you have used it. If all the photos are highly edited, then people can tell if you are just linking things or if you have actually used the products. I hope this blog post helped you learn how to do affiliate marketing on pinterest.
