One big concern from every one of our Instagram management clients is… “I feel burnout from creating reel video content.”
So we started to wonder is it the end for short form video content? And what are the 6 and 7 figure businesses doing differently than everyone else?
Convertkit released a Creator report and it’s INTERESTING!
They reported that in 2023 creators made 23% short form videos which is down from 2022 because they made 45% more short form videos.
Now, what did they actually create last year?
The content was a mix of emails/newsletters, blogs/books, and courses.
Ahem! Don’t forget to check out the link above for yourself to see all the stats.
Well, we think there are many reasons why.
From too many creators making short-form videos, and user fatigue.
Think about it… people in 2023 started to get back to real life from the pandemic and had less time to scroll.
And remember, people commute to work while listening to a podcast better than watching a screen for hours.
Our best advice is to consider the user experience before spending time and money creating content.
Plus if people are going to invest thousands of dollars into your product/service, they might need to watch a 10-minute YouTube video versus a 60-second clip.
QUALITY > QUANTITY OF VIDEOS
When they watch a 10-minute video they are more engaged in your brand than if they are only scrolling a 60-second reel.
And how many YouTubers do you know or bloggers, versus how many Instagramers or TikTokers do you remember off the top of your head?!
People who invest more time into your brand will spend more money!
Focus on long-form content like a blog, podcast, or YouTube channel.
Invest in creating long-form content.
Next, you diversify the platforms you are sharing your content, and you will gain more reach.
Here’s an example of the content system we are recommending:
Step 1: Create long-form content (blog, podcast, YouTube)
Step 2: Share the long form on social (memes, quotes from the podcast or blog, behind the scene photo)
Step 3: Send the long for content to your email list
And what platforms should you be on?
We advise that you have one platform that’s your main community and invest in a search platform.
For example, Instagram is a great community channel to get in the DM’s with your followers.
And Pinterest and YouTube are great search platforms where people can search keywords and find your content.
Example: Instagram + Pinterest, or Instagram + YouTube.
To recap, short-form video content isn’t going anywhere but there are stats and data showing users are still consuming the written word and spending less time scrolling Instagram or TikTok for short-form videos.
So invest in your long-form content in 2024 to see your sales skyrocket.
