PSA Instagram is not dead. Did you know that there are 500 million daily active users? This means an Instagram content funnel should be a top priority for your business. So here is one simple Instagram content funnel that you can use to drive more sales.
There are two different types of philosophies when it comes to an Instagram content funnel.
One is that you use Instagram to drive traffic to your email freebie or website to submit an inquiry form. The other philosophy is that you should drive traffic just to your Instagram DM’s alone and convert your clients there.
I believe that every business owner should have an email list.
Even if there are only 20 subscribers. The main reason is that you own that list. And you can email them whenever you want instead of relying on only algorithms.
But I truly think that it depends on your niche and if you are new to the business.
What I notice a lot of times is that local businesses like aestheticians only rely on Instagram to convert there.
So they don’t drive their audience to an email list or a blog post.
But I think that you should have those and you should incorporate those into your Instagram strategy.
That way you have SEO and email marketing working for you and not just Instagram marketing.
But I’ve converted clients who have gone to my email funnel and who have just followed me on Instagram, and it is equally satisfying knowing your marketing is working.
And the way that I like to use my Instagram content funnel is to drive traffic to my blog and my email list. But I’m also converting followers through my Instagram stories.
So what I would do no matter if you are a freelancer, a blogger, a service provider, or you sell journals. I would create an email lead magnet that is highly compelling to your target audience. Then I would create one post a week to drive to the email list because it is automatic. So if they sign up and go to your email list, then that can run in the background while you are doing other things for your business.
And then on your Instagram strategy, I would still focus you sending them to longer form content like a podcast, blog, or YouTube video.
But I would also post engaging content that is trending on Instagram, so like doing relatable or funny reels that my target audience find relevant.
Here is an example (change blog to a podcast or YouTube if you want).
Now, if you’re just starting, I would just sell on Instagram and create highly compelling content. Create content about the awareness stage, conversion, stage, and nurturing stage. Then once you’ve been in business a year or two, you can focus on building an email list.
If you can, I would suggest building an email list first when you just start your business. But I know that this can be very confusing to a lot of businesses that don’t understand how to use email marketing so that’s why I suggest waiting a year or two and then building up that email list. But this again depends on your personality as a business owner and how much time you have.
And again, I would also think about long-form content to drive your prospects to like a blog, podcast, or YouTube.
Now if you can handle doing this on your own do it or delegate it to a specialist or virtual assistant.
And if you are just planning on repurposing your YouTube videos, my best suggestion would be to make sure you are also creating engaging content that performs well on Instagram like memes. Because if your feed is just about repurposing videos, depending on your ideal audience, that might not be enough to drive more engagement.
So going back to if you’re ONLY creating Instagram content to convert clients, you have to think about the funnel. Make sure your Instagram bio is optimized. Next, create Instagram highlights that talk about your story, your mission in business, reviews, and behind-the-scenes. And your content has to be a mix of engaging, authority, entertaining, and valuable to your target audience. This is going to be important if you have different offers that you want to promote. Also having an optimized bio, highlights, and content should be a main priority even if you are driving traffic into a different funnel.
